split ends
2017
Collaborative project took a turn towards the language. I visualise my concept by making numerous tiny sculptures (their number is divisible by three). These sculptures represent the seeds of a new alphabet made from observing split ends of hair. A line being a metaphor of a story, continuation, yet gaining further dynamism through division, into many different stories, as happened within our project. One of the objects is a woolen carpet. The structure of wool embodies continuity, whilst the dimensions of the object derive from the distance between London and Katowice (1562 km) which was mentioned during our conversations.
this work was made during a collaboration with Sybilla Skałuba and Jonathan Slaughter and is a part of polish-english project called Connect, which was shown in
PLY Gallery in London / UK and Rondo Sztuki in Katowice / PL
